Paige provided a comprehensive background, players, language and nuances found throughout the gas industry. There was a good mix of high level overview & details on the various topics. I found it very informative as a 15-year crude veteran new to the gas industry.

The Gas Accounting Training Class focuses on the importance of the Gas Accounting Function, especially the importance of timely, accurate data and the effects of poor upstream/ downstream data on the Gas Accounting function. Attendees learn how and why the contract process, rate process, gas management (nominations/ confirmations) process and allocation process affect the accounting process. Various methods of verifying transportation, purchase and sales volumes and rates are taught along with methods of reconciling this data during and at the end of the month. Also, the various allocation methods are discussed, along with priority and curtailment issues, as well as the pros and cons of transportation imbalance and penalty exposure which show how pricing fluctuations affect parties with imbalances. The training class uses case studies and in-depth discussions of real problems at a nuts-and-bolts level to illustrate the concepts being discussed.
